New Traffic Scheme at Kampung Pandan Roundabout
12 January, 2005 - Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir dan Terowong Sdn
Bhd, the concessionaire cum contractor for the SMART project will be
implementing temporary traffic management scheme at the Kampung Pandan
Roundabout beginning 16 January, 2005.
The roundabout at the section facing Kampung Pandan will be enlarged to facilitate
construction activities within the roundabout. The number of lanes will
be retained.
This new traffic system will be in place for about eleven (11) months until November 2005.

SMART or the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel is a flood mitigation
project being implemented to alleviate flooding in the city centre.
The project has a secondary purpose of reducing traffic congestion between
the Southern gateway and the city centre by providing an alternative traffic
dispersal scheme.
The project is being jointly supervised by the Department of Irrigation and
Drainage Malaysia and the Malaysian Highway Authority.
