Road Realignment at Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur
24 December, 2004 - Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir dan Terowong Sdn Bhd,
the concessionaire cum contractor for the SMART
project will be implementing temporary traffic management
scheme at Jalan Tun Razak (in front of RHB Bank)
for South bound traffic beginning Saturday, 25 December,
2004.
The main road will be realigned to the left of the
existing one to facilitate construction work for SMART
project. The number of lanes provided will remain
the same.
Road users heading towards the South (Sungai Besi/
Seremban) are advised to keep to the right lane from
RHB Bank while motorists heading towards Kampung Pandan
are advised to keep to the left lanes to avoid last
minute lane-switching.
This new traffic system will be in place for about
ten months until October 2005.

SMART or the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel
Project is a flood mitigation project being implemented
to alleviate flooding in the city centre. The project
has a secondary purpose of reducing traffic congestion
between the Southern gateway and the city centre.
The project is being jointly supervised by the Department
of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia and the Malaysian
Highway Authority.
